the day that's in it

I made pancakes today for the first time in years.

Didn't have the ingredients to make them from scratch - plus it was sort of a spur of the moment thing - so I picked up one of these 'just add milk' ready mixes. (also saw another packet mix which said 'just add eggs and milk'...so WTF is in that packet, just flour??)

As usual it took about 3 pancakes before I managed to get the right consistency/thickness, and then of course there wasn't any mix left, but the good thing about pancakes is that with enough golden syrup, it matters not if they're as thick as a slice of bread (doorstep variety!)

Am now feeling rather stuffed, but have vowed to give up sweets for lent - with the usual exclusions*. Mainly because my nephews have 'decided' to do the same, and anything they can do, i can manage as well.

* exclusions being St.Patricks day, which doesn't count as part of Lent if you're Irish, and any other 'special occasion', like say, the weekend ;-)

Never got a chance to confront said teacher, but last summer at a school celebration, another teacher from the same era confirmed that said…

Sleep...as much as possible. Trust me, with my travel sickness issues, last thing anybody wants is me as a waking passenger!

It's funny this came up, because I actually did find 100euro on the ground in a car park a few weeks back. A tenner, or even a twenty euro note…
