Well the day started out pretty crappily...22 minutes past midnight and the power goes out. Being in bed, I was naturally too lazy to do anything about it, so it wasn't until about 8.30am that I finally called it in. Unfortunately I wasn't the only lazy one around as nobody else in the area called it in before 8am. Which meant of course that they'd only just despatched a repair team.

And then I found out at lunchtime that the power actually came back about 10 minutes after I'd left the house. Unfortunately that was too late for me to tape today's MFU episode. Grrr...
I now also have to make a decision about whether the food in the freezer would have defrosted too much or if it would still be safe to use. (I really hate the thought of throwing away so much stuff)

Still, the day had *some* good points. I brought the car to get the headlights adjusted (was going to bring it first thing this morning but the roads were too icy). Anyway, got them sorted and then phoned up for the NCT retest. As luck would have it, there was a cancellation and I'm booked in for 11.25 tomorrow. Fingers crossed this will get it sorted once and for all.

once you don't open it usually stuff doesn't defrost before 8 hours, I'd try to cycle the stuff out anyway, stuff shouldn't be too bad for a few days. Ice-cream is a good indicator, if you check the ice-cream first it usually defrosts first.

Heehee, yes, and I might have to sample the ice cream several times to make sure that it's not 'contaminated'

I checked with my sister, the original owner of the fridge freezer, and also a nurse, and her reccomendation was to bin anything uncooked, especially chicken, but that cooked stuff would probably be fine. So there goes the remainder of the chicken sausages that I'd bought at the weekend.
