cold callers

No offence to anybody who makes a living as one, but cold callers are the most annoying people ever.
How many times do I have to say to a caller "no, I am not interested in switching my phone service, please stop bothering me"
Honestly, I try to stop them wasting their time by saying straight off that I don't want to switch, and they just keep blathering on about how they can save me lots of money on phone calls. Except of course for the teeny little fact that I DON'T MAKE OUTGOING CALLS ON MY LANDLINE. And I tell those idiots this at the beginning and they're still reading from their script and asking me what calls I make.

A part of me sometimes feels bad about saying goodbye and hanging up, but that part is getting smaller and smaller.

I just got a call from a ROBOT from SWITZERLAND! Seriously. Robot voice, pretending to be real person asking me banal questions about whatever the robot wanted to sell me. I didn't feel as guilty just hanging up, though, so that was good.

they call here all the the time, and they ask for people who no longer work here, not only that, but they'll call 7 times in a row, the last time I picked up the phone and hung it up...it's rude, but being interrupted constantly by cold callers is freakin' annoying.

Depending on the company they probably get downchecked if they divert from the script. They aren't paid to listen to you, they are paid to cough up the script.

I hate them too (even if my employer does use them)...

A colleague involved in the process gave me this trick : if you can recognize that they are what you call "cold caller", don't speak.

Eventually, the person at the other end will hang up. Because they are timed, and pay is based on performance and number of calls.

Just my 2 cents (Canadian)... :)
